Daddy Wants To Hug On His Baby Girl

First thing every morning, Z and I go sit on the couch while she eats some milk. When she gets done, sometimes there’s a brief 5-10 seconds where she sits contentedly in my lap. I love it.

Every now and then I’ll make the mistake of giving her a hug in that moment.

Apparently, that signifies to a baby girl “hey, this dude is coming on way too strong. I need to get down and play with some toys, quick.”

Alas, nothing lasts forever…

Playing With The DSL Line

I do not cease to be amazed at the kid’s ability to determine the 2 or 3 forbidden objects within the short distance achievable at a moments dis-attention and to bee-line for those very things.  One minute she’s playing with her blocks.  I check a text and wham! She’s magically teleported herself across the room and into the next and is chomping down on an electrical cord.

The DSL line in our house is a beautiful – and apparently entrancingly attractive to a baby – blue.  It seems to be her favorite.  This song has also become one of her faves cause she knows that she’ll get whisked up and float around like some sort of Flaming Lips video and dad will hippy dance to an imagined Morrissey rendition of the babyditty hit.

I like to think it’s the fabulous musical experience that keeps her going back for more.

You’re My Baby Girl (So Proud To Be Your Daddy)

Just a simple and sweet little ditty.

There’s a part of the melody structure that very much reminds me of some contemporary country music singer. I actually don’t listen to contemporary country music, so if you happen to know who it is that I might be thinking of, I’d love to hear it.
